Chris "C-Zen" Dickson was raised in Sweeny, Texas (50 miles south of Houston). C-Zen developed a love for rapping at the age of 15 when he started making mix tapes in his sister's room using an amateur microphone. With his brother Alb-D creating the beats and C-Zen spitting the tracks, he soon became a local hit. Inspired by the Swisha House underground movement, C-Zen began pushing for exposure. A student at Texas Southern University, C-Zen used his move to Houston as an opportunity to connect with the city's plethora of underground rap labels. Eventually his persistence paid off and after several attempts he was able to gain the attention of Street Pharmacy's Director of Operations, Brian " BP" Potter. With the label's notoriety for compilation's featuring the hottest artists in the south, C-Zen knew he'd gotten the break he needed to make it as a rapper. Signed to Street Pharmacy in March 2007, the go-getter has already recorded twelve mix-tapes featuring some of the Dirty South's finest. Some of the artists include Tha Essay Potna, Sir Coop of the Freestyle Kingz, Donnie Cross, 2 Grand, Travoria, and Big Tike. One mix tape in particular features tracks by C-Zen and Kileen, Texas native Spark Dawg. With Spark Dawg's group Greencity backed by Texas legend Scarface, C-Zen feels extremely blessed to be connected to what he considers "rap royalty".
