Biography
Now that artists from the South have officially knocked down the blockades holding them back in mainstream rap, many newcomers have found a clearer path to the game. This is evident with a young man who wittingly gave himself the name D. Boy. "I chose that name simply because I want the spotlight on me and every other up and coming artist from the south, because we always shining. That's what the "D" stands for: Diamond", boasts the 22 year old Mississippi native. Growing up in his grandfather's church, he was introduced to music at the early age of 4, and says it has been his passion to pursue it every since. "I was too young to play the drums for his (grandfather's) church. I made up in my mind that I would prove to everyone that I could do it." After relocating to Texas and polishing his talents, he has certainly shown that he has what is takes to garner the status of his other southern comrades. His versatility stands out the most. "I sing, rap, and make tracks." Recently starting his own production company, D. Boy has made the statement that when others won't give you a chance, you have to create one for yourself. After being in TX for a while, soaking up the game like a sponge, D.Boy has recently relocated to Atlanta. "I feel like the "A" is one of those major cities where if you go there and have talent and good material, you can't help but get noticed. Everybody in da game goes to da "A" for something." With a new mixtape/album coming out in the near future, D.Boy is planning on showing the world that he is a force to be reckoned with!
